Hi Kimmi! During the day i work/volunteer at my colleges library/study area, so obviously my make-up and hair have to be pretty tame. The Problem though, is that I often have no time to go back up to my room to change my hair, clothes, or make-up before I got out with friends. Do you have any quick tips for me to go from library to bar hopping with minimal time and product? Thanks! Katie D.
Well, I think librarians are sexy.
But, you obviously have to compete with all of the other ladies that spent 2 and a half hours straight ironing their hair and squeezing into the their pumps, so I’ll help you instantly transform into a smoldering temptress with one quick bathroom visit.
Now, I’m pretty sure to be a librarian it is a requirement to keep your hair out of your face.-A pencil bun may fair well behind a desk, but it definitely won’t win anyone over on the dance-floor.
For instant day to night hair that goes from neat and tidy to sexy waves and super volume – part damp hair straight down the middle and separate into two halves. Tightly french braid hair, keeping braid parallel to the middle part before making a 90 degree and going down to the nape of the neck. Braid until there is nothing left, and secure tightly with an elastic. Be sure to keep the braid tight, and tight to the scalp, or else the waves won’t be spaced properly at the back. See my horribly drawn diagram to the side.
This hair is super cute for a daytime look. Then, when it’s time to play, un-braid the plaits, and separate the sections.
For extra lift, and to make the waves sexier, you can bring a fine tooth comb with you, and lift the top few sections of hair and back-comb hair near the root to give extra volume.
If you’ve got short hair, you can take a sensible, straight flat ironed short style into a sexy voluminous bob by backcombing the root sections of hair around the crown, focusing on lifting the back of hair.
Keep the ends of the hair sleek, and possibly sneak in a small pot of pomade to keep tips sharp, and edgy.
To amp up your make-up, I would suggest getting a nice sexy gloss or lipstick, to throw over your nude librarian ones. Take a quick second, and flip down your lower lip. See that dark color right where your lips end and your gums begin? That is the perfect ‘sexy’ lip color for you. Go out and buy 3 lipsticks in that exact color (once you see it on you, you’ll need refills, I promise).
It matches your skin tone perfectly, and it’s the perfect color to turn heads, but not be to much oomph to walk out of a library.
With hot lips there isn’t much else in the way of amp-ing up your make-up. I wouldn’t suggest bringing any serious shadows to smoke up your eyes with, as you may end up spending an hour in the bathroom trying to even out your creases (especially if you are a make-up perfectionist like me).
You can however bring a nice dusty color of whatever color you are wearing that night. Think dusty purples, a smokey green, a nice mauve, an ash brown, or even a shimmery gray. With an angled brush, sweep under your lower lash line, and follow it from the outside corner of your eye to wherever your lashes stop.
To top off the shadow, bring a really good black mascara with you, and apply a quick coat on top and lower lashes.
Poof! Sexy night look! And- the only products you need to pack in your purse are a lipstick, a smokey shadow, a mascara, and possibly a fine tooth comb!
UvKITTY, I saw those pics of your bedroom on your flickr, and OMG I’m in love. Are the leopards stencils?, stickers? What does the rest of your room look like?? I must know! -laye.
Thanks! I assume you are talking about some of the pictures from the ‘Me’ folder. I actually hand drew each and every leopard spot!
I chose the two paint colors by bringing in my favourite leopard blanket. You can see it in the picture to the right. The darker paint is a really high glossy color, and the light pink is very matte.
Then, I randomly drew HUGE leopard prints in scattered areas all over the wall. I didn’t want to do the entire wall in leopard print because that’s a lot of precise painting with a small brush, and that’s looks way too busy, I was worried it
would be tacky.
I really liked how it turned out, it almost makes the walls look like a leopard lava lamp.
Because the walls are so busy, my bed is kind of plain (except for my one leopard blanket, mind you). I have an all black comforter, with two black pillows, two light pink pillows, and two leopard throw pillows in the same print as the blanket. I also have two monster fur rugs in black and pink – but I hate them. They destroy my carpet with fuzzy leavin’s.
I also have a mini-black Christmas tree in my room that me and my boyfriend (or my boyfriend and I… I guess) put our presents for each other under. Here are a couple pictures of it from last Christmas.
